1520 – João Alvares Fagundes chega a Cape Breton.

1521 – João Alvares Fagundes  estabelece a primeira fixação permanente de colonos portugueses.

MATEUS DA COSTA (? – 1606/7) servindo de interprete entre Samuel  Champlain e os indíos Mic Mac.

1492 – João Fernandes Labrador and Pedro de Barcelos reach Labrador;

1502 – Gaspar and Miguel Corte-Real  explore Newfoundland;

1520 – João Alvares Fagundes reaches Cape Breton.
